I have touched on this topic before but this is a new tip for you to store away.
This tip came from my June trip to Prescott. How to wash a finished wool project keeps coming up in my question box. Several ladies in Prescott encourage the use of baby shampoo to launder (by hand) wool sweaters or wool appliqué projects. Fill the bathtub with lukewarm water and agitate some baby shampoo into it. Soak the piece in the water until you think the dirty area is softened (10 to 20 minutes) agitate softly with your hands and work any soiled areas. Drain the tub and repeat if needed. Drain the tub again and rinse the piece with lukewarm water. Be sure to keep it flat and agitate it gently with your hands. You may want to repeat the rinse as well. The main thing to remember is to be gentle with your finished wool projects. The ONLY time it needs laundered is if a catastrophe happens to it. Simple dust on a wall quilt or table topper just needs to be shaken out, removed with a sticky lint roller, or vacuumed lightly.
